장애인녹색재단, 넷제로아카데미와 장애인 ESG 전문가 양성 MOU

장애인 ESG 탄소 전문가 육성으로
탄소 문맹 퇴치 해결사 역할 도모

한국장애인녹색재단(회장 정원석)과 넷제로아카데미(대표 박희원)는 24일 장애인 교육을 통한 탄소 및 ESG 전문가 양성으로 개인 및 조직의 풀뿌리 기후 행동을 이끌어내기 위한 카본리터러시 교육 협력 양해각서(MOU)를 체결했다.

넷제로아카데미는 영국의 세계적인 비영리 탄소교육 기관 카본리터러시트러스트(CLTrust) 재단의 한국 탄소 교육을 담당하고 있다.  CLTrust의 카본리터러시 교육은 개인과 조직이 수강 후 카본리터러시 자격 인증을 부여한다. 기후 변화에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있는 교육, 인식, 행동을 촉진하는 데 전념하고 있으며, 현재 전 세계적으로 730개 이상의 탄소 문해력 교육 과정을 개설 운영 중이다. 유럽, 아시아 등 35개국의 기업, 정부기관, 대학 등이 이 교육을 수강하였으며, UN 당사국 총회 첫날 행사장에서 강의를 진행하는 세계적인 탄소 전문 교육 과정이다.

이번 협약에 따라, 한국장애인녹색재단은 한국의 기업 및 단체만의 특수한 요구 상황과 문화적 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 탄소 교육 및 기후 행동 훈련을 통해 장애인들을 탄소 및 ESG 전문가로 양성하게 된다. 이를 통해 국내 여러 조직들이 기후 변화에 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는 역량을 크게 향상시켜, 장애인들의 양질의 직업 창출과 함께 중소·중견 기업의 글로벌 ESG요구 대응의 첨병 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

정원석 회장은 “한국은 경제 수준에 비해 탄소 이해력이 뒤떨어지고 글로벌 탄소 규제에도 대응이 부족한 상황인데, 특히 중소·중견기업은 생존에 집중하느라 여러 탄소 대응 요구에 대응할 여력이 없는 상황에서 장애인들이 탄소 국난의 해결사 역할이 되도록 전문가 양성 교육에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다. [ESG경제신문=김도산 기자]

Pioneering Role in Combating Carbon Illiteracy

The Korea Disabled Green Foundation (Chairman Jeong Won-seok) and Net Zero Academy (CEO Park Hee-won) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on December 24 to jointly foster ESG and carbon experts through tailored education programs for people with disabilities. The goal is to promote grassroots climate action at both the individual and organizational levels by enhancing carbon literacy.

Net Zero Academy is the official Korean partner of the Carbon Literacy Trust (CLTrust), a globally renowned non-profit based in the United Kingdom specializing in carbon education. CLTrust’s Carbon Literacy program offers certification upon completion and is dedicated to promoting climate awareness, behavior change, and actionable knowledge. The program is currently being implemented in over 730 courses worldwide, with participation from organizations across 35 countries, including corporations, government agencies, and universities in Europe and Asia. It is also recognized as a leading climate education initiative, having been presented at the opening day of the UN Climate Change Conferences (COPs).

Under this agreement, the Korea Disabled Green Foundation will develop customized carbon education and climate action training tailored to Korea’s unique corporate needs and cultural contexts. The goal is to empower people with disabilities to become carbon and ESG experts, thereby enabling Korean organizations to enhance their capacity to respond effectively to climate change. This initiative is expected to contribute not only to quality job creation for people with disabilities but also to help SMEs and mid-sized companies meet increasing global ESG requirements.

Chairman Jeong Won-seok remarked,

“Despite Korea’s advanced economy, our carbon literacy remains low, and many companies are unprepared for global carbon regulations. SMEs, in particular, are struggling just to survive, with limited capacity to respond to these demands. Our goal is to train people with disabilities to become key problem-solvers in the carbon crisis, and we are committed to providing them with the expertise they need.”
