탄소중립 관련 교육을 제공하는 넷제로아카데미가 영국 탄소 교육기관과 손잡고 국내에 교육을 제공한다.

기업 및 기관의 탄소중립과 ESG 교육 전문 기업인 넷제로아카데미는 영국의 세계적 탄소 교육 비영리 기관인 The Carbon Literacy Trust 재단(CLTrust)과 국내 기업 및 기관 등에 CLTrust의 세계적인 탄소 교육 프로그램인 ‘Carbon LiteracyTM’ 교육을 제공하는 양해각서를 체결했다고 14일 밝혔다.

글로벌 비영리 교육 단체인 카본리터러시트러스트(CLTrust)는 개인과 조직이 수강 후 카본리터러시 자격 인증을 받도록 하여 기후 변화에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있는 교육, 인식, 행동을 촉진하는 데 전념하고 있다.

현재 전 세계적으로 730개 이상의 Carbon Literacy 인증 과정이 개설돼 있다. 유럽, 아시아 등 33개국의 기업, 정부기관, 대학 등이 이 교육을 수강했고, UN 당사국 총회 첫날 행사장에서 오픈 강의를 진행했다.

Carbon Literacy는 CLTrust의 탄소 교육 프로그램의 공식 명칭이다. 이는 일상 활동의 탄소 비용과 영향에 대한 인식과 이를 줄이기 위한 개인, 공동체 및 조직 차원의 능력과 동기를 의미한다. 수강 후에는 탄소 위기 경각심이 배가되고 일상과 조직내에서 탄소 감축을 위해 무엇을 할지 구체적인 방법을 체득하게 된다.

 

 

이번 협약에 따라 CLTrust는 한국 산업 및 조직만의 특수한 요구 상황과 문화적 특성을 반영한 맞춤형 탄소 교육 자료 및 기후 행동 훈련 도구 개발에 있어 넷제로아카데미에 자문을 제공할 예정이다.

넷제로아카데미는 이러한 자원을 활용해 한국 내 다양한 부문에 걸쳐 포괄적인 Carbon Literacy 교육을 제공한다.

박희원 넷제로아카데미 대표는 “Carbon Literacy 교육 협력이 한국인들의 탄소 문제에 대한 경각심을 높이고 구체적인 기후행동 실천에 나서 탄소를 둘러싼 각종 위기를 지혜롭게 넘는데 큰 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “이번 MOU를 계기로 한국과 영국간의 기후 행동 및 탄소 중립에 관한 국제 민간 교류도 추진해보겠다”고 강조했다.

넷제로아카데미는 현재 자연환경신탁, 유엔한반도평화번영재단 등 단체와 일부 지자체 등과 Carbon Literacy 교육을 준비 중이며, 8월 중 공기업을 대상으로 교육을 진행할 예정이다.

Net Zero Academy Signs MOU with the UK’s Carbon Literacy Trust to Promote Global Carbon Education in Korea

Net Zero Academy, a Korean education company specializing in corporate and institutional carbon neutrality and ESG training, announced on the 13th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the UK-based nonprofit Carbon Literacy Trust (CLTrust). The partnership aims to introduce the internationally recognized Carbon Literacy™ program to Korean companies, institutions, and organizations.

Comprising experts in carbon, energy, and sustainable investment, Net Zero Academy stated that the MOU was established to implement Carbon Literacy education across a wide range of Korean organizations—including corporations, government bodies, and civic groups. The goal is to equip participants with internationally standardized carbon knowledge and to foster grassroots-level climate action and behavioral change.

The Carbon Literacy Trust is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education, awareness, and action in response to climate change. The CLTrust program offers participants official Carbon Literacy certification upon completion, empowering individuals and organizations to respond proactively to the climate crisis. Currently, more than 730 Carbon Literacy-certified courses have been developed worldwide, with participation from businesses, governments, and universities in 33 countries across Europe, Asia, and beyond. The Trust has also conducted open sessions at major events such as the opening day of the UN Climate Change Conference.

As part of the MOU, CLTrust will provide advisory support to Net Zero Academy in developing tailored educational content and climate action training tools that reflect Korea’s unique industrial landscape and cultural context.
